BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- Believe it or not, back-to-school is right around the corner and now, thanks to the Salvation Army, dozens of kids will be able to return to the classroom in style.
Today in Belvidere, kids got to pick out a backpack and fill it up with school supplies including folders, notebooks, pens, pencils and even art supplies. All of the stuff was donated by Belvidere families and will help low income students from kindergarten to eighth grade. Bruce Ford says today’s supply drive is a huge help to prepare his son to go back to school.
"This is a great deal in these tough economic times... with work layoffs and other things. This really assists gets whats really important to a kids education and anything to help us out with that is great,” Ford said.
The Salvation Army says this year’s school supply drive helped around 200 families.
