Sago Sentenced to 37 Years

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Brandon Sago has been sentenced to 37 years for several convictions, including first-degree murder in the shooting death of his cousin, Michael Sago, Jr.

Brandon Sago was also convicted for conspiracy, mob action and attempted armed robbery.

The two men, along with Lamar Coates and Desmond Bellmon, attempted to rob Marie's Pizza in October 2011. The incident ended with off-duty Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputy Frank Pobjecy shooting each suspect, killing Michael Sago, Jr.

Desmond Bellmon has been sentenced to 20 years. Lamar Coates was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Pobjecky has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Stateline Integrity Task Force.
