ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A local organization says there are tens of millions of people in American living with a disability and that group ran, walked and wheeled in honor of those who struggle.
RAMP held it's first ever "Run, Walk, Wheel half marathon event Saturday morning. Hundreds of people took part in the races which highlight the struggles people with disabilities live with. Eric Brown, RAMP, says the race is all about spreading awareness for disabilities and also to encourage people with disabilities to be active and realize that are no limits to what they can do.
"As a person with a disability my thought was better way than to go out and do the event so I took a hand bike out and did the half marathon. Wonderful event and wonderful opportunity to continue to empower people with disabilities," Brown said.
Brown says they plan on continuing this event every year.
