UPDATE: UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A Rockford man is found guilty of shooting a woman to death in her apartment last May.
27-year-old Jamie Key faces life in prison for charges of murder by use of a firearm and domestic battery.
Prosecutors say that Key was arguing with 24-year-old Savannah Johnson at her apartment in the 1000 block of 15th Street before Key pulled out a gun and shot Johnson in her living room. There were two children at the apartment at the time, but neither were hurt.
Key will be in court again in July.
UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The Winnebago County Coroner says a 24-year old woman died from a gunshot wound and stabbing in Rockford over the weekend.
Police have arrested 26-year-old Jamie Key in the death of his girlfriend, Savannah Johnson. Police found Johnson’s body in the 1000 block of 15th Street on Saturday morning.
ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A woman is dead after being shot and stabbed and police say her boyfriend, who held police at bay for six hours inside an apartment, is to blame.
The Winnebago County Coroner says Savannah Johnson had possible gunshot and knife wounds when she was found dead inside a home at 1014 15th street.
Police were called to the home just after three Saturday morning for reports of gun shots. Investigators then found Johnson's boyfriend Jamie Key, 26, inside an apartment at the old PA Peterson School on 8th street. He was arrested after a six hour standoff with police.
Key is charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder.
ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A woman is dead after police find her body inside a home on Rockford’s east side.
Just after 3:00 a.m. Saturday police were called to a home in the 1000 block of 15th Street for a disturbance. When officers got to the scene they found a 24-year-old woman dead inside the home.
Police say this is an active investigation and the victim’s name is not being released at this time.
