Rockford School Board Candidate Arrested for Allegedly Impersonating a Police Officer

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The owner of a local security company was arrested Thursday morning for impersonating a police officer. But he thinks it's only a ploy to ruin his campaign for Rockford School Board.

Juan Reyes says when he got a traffic ticket in Cherry Valley in November. He showed the officer his badge for being a Deputy Chief with the Illinois Police Bureau. The Illinois Police Bureau is an organization that assists police agencies. So he finds it fishy an officer from the Secretary of State's Office showed up at his door, five months later with a warrant for his arrest.

"It's really sad that this has to come about... you know and try to tarnish my name, my good name. When you don't have anything we will make some thing up and that unfortunate," Reyes said.

Reyes is running in Subdistrct F against Jeff Holt and Michael Connor. Both men live in Cherry Valley where Reyes got the ticket. Reyes owns Security Professionals of Illinois, which used to have a contract with District 205.
