WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) – Winnebago County Children may be more at risk compared to the rest of the State. One report reveals that kids in the county are in trouble when it comes to abuse and neglect.

The Winnebago County Health Department explained today that there are health disparities related to family income level , race, and ethnicity and other factors. According to the Illinois Department of Children and Family services, the average rate of child abuse and neglect in Winnebago County is 18.6 per one thousand, which is more than double the state average of 8.6 per 1,000.
