Rockford Residents Find Old TV's Dumped in Alleys

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It's illegal but people are still tossing old TV's in the trash.

Rockford's 2nd Ward Alderman Pat Curran says residents keep calling him saying they found old TV's just sitting on the curb. Garbage trucks will not pick up TV's because state law bans us from throwing electronics into the trash.

If you have a TV that needs to be recycled take it to American TV on East State Street in Rockford.

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful will hold an electronics recycling event on May 4, 2013 in the south parking lot of the Machesney Park Mall. They do not accept TV's.
