ROCKFORD (WIFR) — On April 16th, 2013, Rockford Rescue Mission became the grateful recipient of two new 15-passenger vans, made possible through a donation of $69,000 from the PACCAR Foundation.
The 2012 Chevy Express 3500 vans were purchased from Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall.
The vehicles will replace older ones that have been in use for more than a decade and are showing typical signs of wear and tear. They are used to transport Mission residents to medical and dental appointments, job interviews, recreational activities, GED testing and church services. In all, the vehicles make more than 100 trips each month.
“Most importantly, the safety and comfort of our staff, residents and volunteers who use the vans are a top priority,” said Executive Director Sherry Pitney. “We feel so blessed that the PACCAR Foundation chose to assist the Mission in this way, by providing the funds necessary to purchase these vehicles that are vital to our programs and services.”
PACCAR Parts Distribution Center Manager Scott Tipping said his organization was pleased to make the contribution.
“Rockford Rescue Mission provides such a tremendous service to this community. We’re happy we were able to help them continue their outreach to our neighbors who are homeless or in need.”
