About the Library
The Rockford Public Library, founded in 1872 as the second library in Illinois, currently has seven facilities, including the Nordlof Center, Main Library and five Branch Libraries. The mission of the Rockford Public Library is to educate, inform, entertain and culturally enrich the people of our community.
ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Paul Logli, President of the Board of Trustees of the Rockford Public Library, announced that a new member has been appointed to the Trustees board. Mr. James O’Hagan began his term as RPL Trustee at the February 2014 board meeting.
"We are grateful to the Mayor and the City Council for appointing our ninth trustee. Jim brings great leadership skills, insight, and a strong connection to the educational community. Speaking for the board, we welcome Mr. O’Hagan, and look forward to working with him for years to come."
James O'Hagan is a native of San Mateo, California and came to Rockford two years ago. He is the Director of Instructional Technology & Library Services for Rockford Public Schools 205. He has worked in education for fifteen years as a teacher, technology integration specialist, assistant principal and director. He also is an active member of the Rockford Ravens Rugby Football Club serving as their publicity chair.
Mr. O’Hagan is actively involved in all areas of education including cutting edge instructional design, paradigm shifting, student career preparation, and community relations. James brings a strong passion for technology and the ability to motivate and inspire students, by creating a fun and challenging learning environment. A self-driven leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, James effectively collaborates with all levels of staff members and fosters quality relationships with students.
Mr. O’Hagan has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Education from Purdue University, Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Education from Lewis University and is a doctoral student at Northern Illinois University in Instructional Technology & Design.
