Rockford Pro/Am to Host Kick Off Concert


UPDATE: RAVE and the Rockford PRO/AM announced another artist that will be joining the ProAm Jam lineup today. The initial lineup was announced last week and includes Steve Azar, Josh Kelley, Edwin McCain and Javier Colon. In addition, the concert will be featuring Mark Bryan, Dean Felber and Darius Rucker from Hootie & the Blowfish. The concert will kick-off the 38th annual Rockford PRO/AM and will take place on Sunday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

Performers:
- Steve Azar: Azar is a country singer-songwriter who began his career in 2002 with his hit single, “I Don’t Have To Be Me Til Monday,” one of the top 5 most played songs of the last decade on country radio. Azar has toured with Bob Seger and wrote country great Reba McEntire’s hit “Big Blue Sky.”

- Josh Kelley: Kelley began his country career in 2010 and his debut single “Georgia Clay” became a Top 20 hit on the Hot Country Songs charts. Kelley also charted 4 Top 40 hits prior to his transition to country music. Kelley’s brother is Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum and he is married to actress Katherine Heigl.

- Edwin McCain: McCain boasts an 11 album career, a wall of platinum and gold albums as well as reams of Top 10, 20 and 40 hits. McCain’s most notable song “I’ll Be” is considered one of the “Greatest Love Songs of All Time” according to VH1.

- Javier Colon: In 2011, Colon was the winner of the inaugural season of the NBC television show, The Voice, and went on to sign a recording contract with Universal Republic Records. He refers to his music as acoustic soul.

- Mark Bryan: Bryan was a founding member, songwriter and guitar player for multi-platinum Hootie & the Blowfish. He has produced 5 full length albums, as well as co-written and produced countless songs for other artists.

- Dean Felber: Felber was also a member of Hootie & the Blowfish and was behind the upbeat rhythm of the band as their bassist.

- Darius Rucker: Rucker is a multi-Grammy winning artist who has sold over 40 million albums and owns 8 #1 hit songs and counting.

- MC, Shawn Parr: Parr is a national radio personality and the voice of all nationally televised music awards shows.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Some big names in the music business will be in town this summer to kick off the 38th Annual Rockford Pro/Am.

On Wednesday the Rockford Area Venues and Entrainment Board announced this summer's golf tournament will start with the Pro/Am Jam.

The concert will be held on Sunday July 13, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. Band members Mark Bryan and Dean Felber from Hootie & the Blowfish will be performing along with a special guest.
