Rockford Police and WCHD Conduct Citywide Tobacco Compliance Checks

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- On February 18, 2013, the Rockford Police Department Community Services Unit combined efforts with the Winnebago County Health Department to conduct city wide tobacco compliance checks at businesses that sell tobacco products in Rockford.

The funding for this project was provided by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission. Minors employed by the Winnebago County Health Department were asked to make controlled purchases of cigarettes from these businesses.

118 stores were checked in the City of Rockford, two of which sold cigarettes to minors and the clerks at the following businesses were issued citations for “Sale of Tobacco Products to Minors”.

1) Logli’s Supermarket, 3150 N. Rockton Ave.
2) Stop N Shop, 2501 Huffman Blvd.
