ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- On January 2, 2013, the Rockford Police Department Community Services Unit and M3 Street Teams Unit worked together with the Winnebago County Health Department to conduct citywide tobacco compliance checks at businesses that sell tobacco products in the City of Rockford.
During these checks, minors employed by the Health Department used official funds to make controlled purchases of cigarettes from these businesses.
Over 125 stores were checked in the City of Rockford. Clerks at the Walgreens located at 1145 N. Alpine Road and at Huck’s Gas Station located at 2542 Stowmarket Ave. were issued citations for selling cigarettes to minors.
