Rockford Police Releases Thanksgiving Patrol Results

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, research has shown that when lap and shoulder belts are used properly, the risk of fatal injury to front-seat passenger car occupants is reduced by 45 percent, and the risk of moderate to serious injury is reduced by 50 percent.

From Nov. 12-25, 2012, IDOT partnered with law enforcement agencies to remind motorists to buckle up and to not drive impaired as part of the merged Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization. The Rockford Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers, both day and night.

During the mobilization, Rockford officers issued:
11 Seat belt citations
