Rockford Police Looking for Attempted Armed Robbery Suspect

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford police are looking for the man responsible for trying to rob a 12-year-old at a bus stop.

Police say the boy noticed a dark-colored Pontiac near Fairview and Irving Avenues while walking to his bus stop before 7 a.m. The suspect got out of his car, then showed a gun and demanded money from the boy. After learning he didn't have any, the suspect struck him in the face with the gun and then drove away.

The suspect is described as a black man around 18 years old, 5' 2" tall, 130 pounds with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans. The car was described as a black Pontiac, similar to a Grand Prix with a tinted rear window.
