ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford Police say teens are staying out too late and they're getting into some serious trouble.
After a number of recent crimes the department is cracking down on curfew law violators hoping that effort will discourage young criminals.
"These youths shouldn't be out after curfew," said Rockford Police Lt. Pat Hoey. "They're either committing crimes or victims of crimes."
It's been a rough month for teenage crime according to police. Robbery and burglary numbers are up just last night officers say they caught two teens breaking into and stealing from Lewis Lemon Elementary.
Curfew hours in Rockford are midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 11pm Sunday through Thursday for all minors.
