ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- it's been about two months since the two-lane roundabout at Main and Auburn opened, and some drivers are still having a hard time navigating it so Rockford Police have a new plan to see those accidents as they happen.
“We have cameras throughout the city and we're able to move those around and that's one location we want to look at in terms of speed, in terms of accidents, and in terms of criminal activity. We've had some complaints," Rockford Police Chief Chet Epperson said.
This decision comes after five accidents at the intersection last month and another five already this month. Public Works Director Tim Hanson says there were usually about two or three accidents at that intersection before the change to the roundabout. The accidents now are less serious, mostly fender benders because of lower speeds.
