ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford religious leaders are working together to find ways to better serve our community.
The Rockford Minister's Fellowship Group met Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church to discuss their plans to fight crime and tackle the lack of jobs in our community. The men would like to step into schools to teach students how to apply for college and financial aid. They also think it’s important to teach teens about poverty and other social problems and how that can relate to their lives.
"We met with a young lady from Prairie State Legal this morning also to discuss fair housing, so we're busy trying to figure out and discern as it relates to how we can better serve our community,” says the group’s president Herbert Johnson.
The Rockford Minister’s Fellowship is open to all pastors and ministers. They meet on the third Saturday of each month.
