Rockford Men Charged in Home Invasion

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- On November 16th, 2012 shortly after 8:00 PM, Rockford Police Officers responded to the 1200 block of Burton Street in reference to a Home Invasion.

While investigating the incident, officers learned the victim was shot in the leg by the suspects who were armed with firearms. During the incident, the dog inside the residence was shot and killed by the suspects. The suspects were described as three men.

Rockford Police Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident and the following charges were authorized:

28-year-old Nicholas M. Bryant and 24-year-old Mechos C. Freeman both of Rockford were each charged with Home Invasion (3 counts), Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

Rockford Police Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Bryant and Freeman.
