ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A few months ago members of the Rockford Police Department received information that a man named Scottie Valentine Jr. was involved with selling cocaine. Upon receiving this information the Rockford Narcotics Unit, along with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (A.T.F.) began an investigation. The investigation concluded on February 19, 2013 when Scottie Valentine Jr. was taken into custody after a brief foot chase in the 1400 block of Stoney Creek Way.
Scottie Valentine’s brother, Marktavis Valentine, was also taken into custody on scene.
As a result of the investigation, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at the apartment on Stoney Creek Way where both Valentines’ were residing.
During the search detectives recovered over 540 gross grams of cocaine, other items associated with drug trafficking, and two handguns. One of the handguns was reported stolen out of Rockford and the other was reported stolen out of Knoxville Tennessee. Scottie and Marktavis Valentine were charged with the below listed offenses and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.

Charges: Possession with Intent to deliver 400-900 grams of cocaine, Unlawful Use of Weapon by felon, Resisting a Peace Officer, Possession of stolen property. City warrant for 3 counts of Delivery of cocaine.Bond: No Bond (Felony charge, must be set by Judge)
Arrested: Marktavis Valentine, 22, of Rockford
Charges: Possession with intent to deliver 100-400 grams of cocaine, Unlawful Use of Weapon by Felon, Possession of Stolen Property, Resisting a Peace Officer.
