Rockford Man Charged With Murder for Shooting in Byron

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- A Rockford man is facing felony charges in a shooting that happened in Byron last month.

Brandon McMahon is charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery and discharge of a firearm, possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of a weapon by a gang member. 20 year old McMahon allegedly shot 19 year old Wyatt Ackerson of Byron after a confrontation at a party on March 22nd.

McMahon has already served a 3 year sentence and is on parole for a 2010 armed robbery. McMahon has been in jail since he was taken into custody a few hours after the Byron shooting for another shooting he was involved with in Winnebago County.

Ackerson still remains in the hospital.
