ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- 26-year-old Darrell Thomas has been arrested on drug charges.
Members of the Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit had been investigating Thomas after receiving information that he was selling crack cocaine and heroin at various locations in Rockford. The Rockford Police department received assistance from the F.B.I. and the A.T.F with this investigation that came to a conclusion on 1-15-13 after Thomas was taken into custody in the 800 block of Buckbee after a short foot chase.
Once Thomas was placed under arrest, search warrants were executed in the 700 block of Buckbee and the 1400 block of 7th Ave. During the course of this investigation detectives recovered over 40 bags of heroin, 70 bags of crack cocaine, two grams of cannabis, US currency, and an AK-47 assault rifle.
Thomas has been charged with Possession with Intent to deliver 15-100 grams of cocaine, Possession of cannabis, UUW by felon, 2 counts of delivery of less than one gram of heroin within 1,000 of a church, 2 counts of delivery of 1-15 grams of heroin within 1,000 feet of a church, and resisting arrest. His bond is set at $100,000 (10%)
