Rockford Man Arrested for Burglary

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- On Tuesday, September 10th, 2013 shortly after 10:30 AM, a Rockford Police Patrol Officers located Michael A. Scott, walking through the North Town Mall parking lot. The officer had knowledge Scott was listed as a suspect in prior Burglary incidents. While the officer was speaking with Scott, a quantity of a substance believed to be Cannabis and a quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine was recovered from a vehicle that Scott had been driving. The officer placed Scott under arrest.

Rockford Police Detectives conducted follow up investigation into the incident. At the conclusion of the investigation, Scott was charged with the following:

Michael A. Scott, 19 years of age, Rockford, Illinois
Violation of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act, Possession of Cocaine
Violation of the Cannabis Control Act, Possession of Cannabis
Residential Burglary 1032 S. Johnston Avenue (Burglary occurred on August 26th, 2013)

The charges against Scott are merely accusations. Scott is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

As a result of Scott’s arrest, a Residential Burglary at 1025 Hopkins Ct. was cleared.
