ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A Rockford man is arrested after officers say he tried to rob two businesses and allegedly caused two hit and runs.

Police say 29-year-old Shane Hooper walked into the Road Ranger on 11th Street around 1:30 a.m. and demanded money. When he was denied, he destroyed property and jumped on the counter. He was given some cash and left.

Hooper’s truck was later identified in two hit and runs at 20th Street and Reed Avenue as well as in the 2600 block of Colorado.

The suspect was later identified near the same Road Ranger again and taken into custody. According to further investigation, Hooper allegedly tried to rob the McDonald’s across the street but was not successful.
