Rockford Lutheran Acadmeic Team Takes First at WYSE

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Rockford Lutheran WYSE (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) team recently won the 700 Division at the Rock Valley College Regional. This win allows the team to advance to the Northern Illinois University sectional held in March.

Lutheran scored 487 points for their first Regional win. In second place was Byron High School with 461 points, followed by third place Stillman Valley with 440 points.

Individual medalist include:

Seniors Evelyn Behling – 1st English, 2nd Biology
Jason Kerestes – 1st Math
Jacob Robinson – 2nd Math
Caleb Anderson – 2nd Chemistry
Juniors Calvin Cable – 3rd Biology
Joseph Wild – 3rd Physics
The WYSE academic competition is a state wide academic competition run by the University of Illinois. Students compete in
math, physics, biology, chemistry and English.
