ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A house fire on Rockford east side is under investigation.
Just before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday firefighters were called to a home in the 4300 block of Brendenwood Road. The first crews arrived to the scene within five minutes and saw smoke coming out of the front door. Firefighters say they put out the fire quickly and there's only damage to a small area of the kitchen. Damage estimates are at $10,000.
The house was vacant and being remolded. The cause is under investigation but appears to be accidental. No on was hurt in the fire.
