Rockford Honors Fallen Veterans on Memorial Day

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Memorial Day celebrations got underway Monday at the annual parade in Downtown Rockford.

Families braved the showers to line up along state street to pay their respects to fallen service men and women.
This year's honorary parade marshals included Thomas Jarrett a WWII veteran from the 761st Tank Unit.

After the parade Memorial Day events wrapped up with the Annual Riverside Sinking of the Ship Ceremony behind the Rockford Public Library.
The Navy Club Ship Number One put on the program, including tossing a wreath into the water and a twenty-one gun salute.
