Rockford Holds Black History Month Celebration

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The City of Rockford celebrated Black History Month Wednesday night at City Hall. As 2014 marks 50 years since the passing of the civil rights act.

The local NAACP hosted the "Path to Transformation" during the 4th Annual Black History Month observance at Rockford City Hall. At one point members of the crowd held hands during the singing of we shall overcome, written by the late Pete Seager. The song became the anthem of the American Civil Rights Movement.
