ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Average gas prices in the Rockford area have fallen 15 cents per gallon this week, averaging at $3.95 per gallon.
Yet, according to GasBuddy, this week's average price is still five cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 31 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
The national average price has fallen two cents per gallon to $3.61 per gallon. That's five cents per gallon lower than a month ago but eight cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
"(There is) relief in the Great Lakes, a region that had been plagued with refining issues that have seemingly been resolved," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst.
