Rockford Gas Prices Rise 17 Cents

ROCKFORD - Gas prices have risen in the Rockford area to almost 20 cents per gallon this week, averaging at $3.70 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy although prices in Rockford are higher now, they are still 17.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago and 2.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has fallen 1.6 cents to $3.50 per gallon. The national average has decreased 14.5 cents per gallon this month and is 34.7 cents per gallon cheaper than a
year ago.

"With Memorial Day just five weeks away, there's good news for motorists: prices will likely continue to lag behind year ago levels," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst.
