Rockford Gas Prices Fall Five Cents

ROCKFORD - Gas prices fell 5 cents last week in the Rockford area. That makes the average $3.54 per gallon, with the national average coming to $3.52 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy.com, prices are 39 cents per gallon lower in Rockford than a year ago and approximately 14 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.

"The national average continues to be driven down as oil prices have fallen in recent weeks," said GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan in a press release. "As we get closer to Memorial Day, there's also the chance of an increase in pricing volatility thanks to refinery maintenance season that will be gradually coming to a close."
