Rockford Area Gas Prices Continue to Dip

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Gas prices around the Rockford area are averaging at $3.51 after falling four cents per gallon within the last week.

According to GasBuddy, that's 21 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 30 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The national average currently measures at $3.57 per gallon, which is 0.4 cents per gallon lower than last week. National prices are now nine cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 16 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

"Gasoline inventories declined a sizable amount last week," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst, in a press release. "As this week wears on, gasoline prices could start showing some upward movement. Any increases might be limited, however, by the impending end of summer driving season."
