ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Boys & Girls Club Blackhawk Unit in Rockford now has a new computer lab thanks to a new partnership.
The Northstar Lottery Group's After School Advantage Program provided the Blackhawk unit with eleven new computers, as well as, a smart-board, software, and furniture. The computer lab officially opened Thursday and Chip Stoner, CEO of the Rockford Boys & Girls Club, says the state of the art facility will allow kids to get a leg up on their school work.
"It will allow us to expand our technology programs, better programs for the kids to do their homework and for the older kids, research careers, work on their ACT's and do college prep stuff. So it just opens up a wide variety of programs for our kids," Stoner said.
Northstar's After School Advantage Program began in 2011 and has opened eight computer labs throughout Illinois.
