Rock Valley College Student Learning About Robots

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Experts say robots are taking over the manufacturing industry which is why some local students are learning what they can now so when it's their turn to enter the workforce, they're ready to shine.

Rock Valley College's Electronic Engineering Technology Department student's showed off their final projects tonight. A class programmed robots to conduct different tasks like filing a beer bottle, brewing coffee, and drawing pictures of famous cartoon characters.

Joe Etminan is the teacher and says his students are learning skills they can take right into the job market.

"We try to give them the skills with the actual equipment that they use in the real world, in the industry," said Etminan.

The semester is just wrapping up for the class, but Etminan says some students are already landing jobs in the manufacturing industry.
