ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rock Valley College is trying to help Rockford get back into the manufacturing powerhouse it once was, by holding a manufacturing visioning session.

RC leaders, along with politicians and members of the community came together for a manufacturing visioning session to brainstorm ways Rockford can get back into the manufacturing industry. The college offers a wide arrange of classes in the industry, but there isn't enough jobs in Rockford to sustain the number of people Rock Valley graduates each year.

"I think it's important so that we come together and work as partners. It's a money saver for the community and a way to make sure that the direction that we're going in is the right direction that we're going in," says Mike Mastroianni, Interim President at RVC.

The college's board members hope this is the first of many visioning sessions the school holds.
