ROCK ISLAND (AP) -- Authorities are saying the cause of death for a missing Rock Island man is mostly likely from being exposed to such cold temperatures.
An initial autopsy shows 43-year-old Steven Califf died from hypothermia. Califf's body was found Monday afternoon along the Mississippi River.
Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson says Califf was a frequent hiker in that area.
He was reported missing Jan. 7, which was days after he left his home in Rock Island for an appointment.
The investigation of his death is still on going.
