OREGON (WIFR) -- Now that the April election is over, one local candidate is already working on next year's campaign. This one for Ogle County Sheriff.
Rochelle Police Officer Brian Van Vickle announced his candidacy for Ogle County Sheriff Wednesday afternoon in Oregon. Van Vickle spoke in front of friends and family at Maxsom Manor across the Rock River from the statue of Chief Black Hawk. The fifth generation resident of Ogle County has spent the last five years as a K9 officer. Van Vickle has even set out a plan on what he wants to get accomplished.
"Combating crime is a big factor in the county. I don't believe the current focus is anything other than reactionary. The current focus is more on generating revenues by traffic tickets and things of that nature and that will change under my administration," Van Vickle said.
The primary election for the Ogle County Sheriff's Office is set for March 18, 2014.
