BELOIT (WIFR) -- A Beloit gymnasium that partially collapsed, is back open today. Robinson Elementary school students are already taking advantage of the facility. You may recall the gym was declared unsafe back in October, after construction workers noticed the foundation was starting to buckle and one of the walls began to crack. Students used to eat lunch in the facility, so they've been using a temporary classroom ever since. Beloit's superintendent tells us this warm weather has been quite the blessing for construction workers.
We're extremely pleased. You know, the Christmas people probably want some nice, snowy weather, but for construction purposes this is very beneficial to the school district of Beloit."
Construction crews are still making headway on the $6 million renovations for the rest of the school.
