Roadside Safety Check Results from Weekend of September 29

PECATONICA (WIFR) -- The Illinois State Police (ISP) announced the results of a Roadside Safety Check (RSC) held during the late evening hours of Saturday, September 29th, and early morning hours of Sunday, September 30th, 2012. The detail was conducted at IL Rt 2 northbound at Whitman St., in Rockford, by ISP District 16 troopers, Rockford Police officers and deputies from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police.

Alcohol is involved in over 40 percent of fatal crashes in Illinois. RSCs are designed to remove alcohol-impaired drivers, however, when other violations are observed such as driving with a suspended or revoked license, operating a vehicle without a valid registration or insurance, or safety belt violations, enforcement action may be taken.

The following citations were issued at the safety check:

Registration Offenses: 3
Driver’s License Offenses: 7
Occupant Restraint Offenses: 11
Driving Under the Influence Arrests: 3
Other Alcohol/Drug Arrests: 9
Total Citations/Arrests: 50
Total Written Warnings: 12
