Ridott Woman Killed in Early Morning Crash on Bypass 20

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- U.S. 20 in Rockford reopens several hours after police say a local mother was killed while braking for a rollover car accident nearby.

Emergency responders were already at the scene, however the fatal crash was so intense, we're told there wasn't much emergency responders could do to save the woman's life. Investigators say the driver of a semi-crashed into 64 year old Jeanette Pivot's car at around 5am on Saturday on Bypass 20 just west of the Kishwaukee Street overpass. Emergency crews were originally responding to another rollover accident in the area. They believe that's what may have caused the victim to stop, along with other cars. Friends and family of Pivot say she was a happy and caring person who had a love for animals and her grandchildren. They say she was on her way to pick up a family member near Chicago. The crash is under investigation.
