ROCKFORD (WIFR) –
Rick Steves told a crowd in Rockford too many of us are missing out by being too scared to travel outside the US.
"There's a 96% of humanity outside of our boarders and I think it's high time we got to know the family,” says Steves. He said, “So I like to travel and that helps me celebrate the diversity on this planet rather than being afraid of it."
Rick Steves spends about a third of the year in Europe researching for his guidebooks and filming his American public television show. He talked about his adventures during a fundraiser for the Rockford Library Foundation at Franchesco's. Donations will help pay for new computers and equipment as well as summer reading programs for kids. Steves spends the rest of the year at his home in Washington State.
