UNDATED (WIFR) -- A new low for debt collection. Aaron's, a rent-to-own franchise is accused of installing spy software on laptops to ensure they get paid.
The Illinois Attorney General's Office says the software allowed them to remotely lock down a computer and record keystrokes and personal information. The company agreed to quit doing that, however, they will keep the tracking feature active in case a laptop is reported stolen.
There are Aaron's locations in Belvidere, DeKalb and Freeport.
