Results for Independence Day DUI/Seatbelt Campaigns in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- From June 14 through July 6th, the Rockford Police Department participated in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Independence crack down on impaired drivers and seat beat violators.

During this campaign, the Rockford Police Department partnered with the Illinois State Police on June 14th to conduct a roadside safety checkpoint. The Rockford Police Department also conducted additional DUI patrols on June 27th and July 5th. Below are the results from these details.

June 14th – Roadside safety checkpoint with the Illinois State Police
DUI – 1
Driver’s License Offenses – 13
Safety Belt Violation – 6
Alcohol & Drug Offense – 14
Warrants Served - 2
Warnings issued – 7

DUI Patrols conducted on June 27th and July 5th:
DUI – 5
Speeding – 35
Child Restraint violation – 1
Warrants Served – 3
No valid driver’s license – 1
Fireworks Violations – 1
Minor Drinking – 2
Other moving and equipment violations – 12

The law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety.
