OGLE COUNTY (WIFR) -- Earlier today, 15th Circuit Chief Judge Val Gunnarsson administered the oath of office in Court Room 302 in the Ogle County Judicial Center, to former Ogle County State’s Attorney Ben Roe as the Ogle County Resident Circuit Judge. Ogle County Board Chairman Kim P. Gouker announced that following Judge Roe’s swearing-in ceremony, Judge Gunnarsson also signed a court order naming Ogle County First Assistant State’s Attorney Mike Rock to serve as the Interim Ogle County State’s Attorney. Ogle County Associate Circuit Judge Robert T. Hanson administered the oath of office for Interim State’s Attorney Mike Rock following the ceremony for Judge Roe.
Chairman Gouker stated the Interim appointment is necessary to allow the continuous operation of the State’s Attorney’s office until the County Board is able to meet at its next regular meeting on January 15th. Gouker also said, “as the First Assistant under Ben Roe, Mike Rock was the natural replacement for this interim period, to provide the continued high level of administration of the cases currently under review by this office. At the January 15th Board meeting, I will recommend a permanent replacement, and during this short nine day period, this office will be in very good hands with State’s Attorney Mike Rock.”
On November 8, 2012, the Illinois Supreme Court appointed Ben Roe as the Resident Circuit Judge of Ogle County, effective today, January 7, 2013. On December 18, 2012, Ben Roe submitted his letter of resignation as Ogle County State’s Attorney, also effective today.
