ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It’s been one year since Illinois' income tax hike took effect and republican leaders say it's got to go.
Top Republicans are calling for an immediate repeal of the tax hike. A new report by the 'Illinois Policy Institute' claims the increase made business less competitive in Illinois. The Democrat-controlled legislature raised the personal tax rate from three to five percent. The goal was to help dig the state out of its deepest budget hole in history and Republicans say that's not happening.
