ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- March 1, 2014 is the deadline for Rockford landlords to get online and sign up for the city's rental database.
The registry has been designed to keep property owners connected with police and the city if there are problems at their units.
Any one who rents out an apartment, home, or condo has to register all of their properties by Saturday.
Once the information is online police and firefighters will notify landlords electronically when they're called to a unit. If the cops or the fire department are needed at a rental and they can't find someone in the database, a landlord could get fined up to $750 a day until that person signs up.
