FREEPORT (WIFR) -- A rash of break ins to cars has some in Freeport worried about safety in their neighborhood.
Residents of the First and Sixth Wards in the Pretzel City meet bi-monthly to get a crime up-date from police. Officers say several cars have been broken into over the last few weeks, many of them were unlocked with valuables inside. Residents were also concerned about suspicious people around their neighborhood. These meetings started four years ago to help improve the way neighbors and police work together.
At Tuesday night's meeting. Neighbors also got updates from City of Freeport and Stephenson County officials on various plans and projects.
