RMH Performs First da Vinci Gallbladder Surgery

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It's a first for a Rockford hospital doctors used a high-tech robot to preform gallbladder surgery.

Christine Ware went under the knife just three weeks ago at Rockford Memorial Hospital where doctors used the da Vinci Surgery Robot to remove her gallbladder. The operation took just over an hour and unlike a traditional surgery that involves four incisions, the da Vinci Surgery Robot only has to make a tiny incision at the belly button.

"I've talked to a lot of people who had it done other ways and they are at awe that I have a tiny scare that you can barely see. And there was barely any pain at all involved," Ware said.

Ware says her recovery was fast and she was feeling better in just a couple of days.
