STATELINE (WIFR) -- A local businessman with more than 30 years of management experience is the new temporary leader of the Rockford Area Economic Development Council.
Today Don Thayer was named the interim replacement for RAEDC, replacing the outgoing Janyce Fadden.
Thayer has been the CEO of Illinois Growth Enterprises since 2009. He's also held management positions at EigerLab, United Banks of Illinois, Anderson Industries and several other stateline companies.
Right after the announcement Thayer told 23 News that his main job is to keep the momentum rolling, "In many respects the expertise we need to rise to the challenge we have on staff. And my job is to help energize them and help support them any way they need it."
Thayer's first day as RAEDC president will be May 21st. He is expected to stay on anywhere from 6 months to a year while the board continues a nationwide search for a permanent leader.
