RACVB Scores More Sports Tournaments

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Rockford just scored a big win, more than half a dozen sports tournaments are coming to the Forest City in the next two years. That means thousands of visitors are expected to spend $4 million at our local restaurants, hotels, and businesses.

Rockford will host 10 tournaments through 2016 for bowling, lacrosse and the water skiing nationals. These events will start in the Summer. Thousands of people are expected to pack our local hotels and businesses. RACVB President John Groh says he’s excited for this big win because it shows visitors love to come back to the Forest City.

“It also takes a commitment across the community to welcome and be welcoming and to roll out the red carpet and our hospitality partners at our restaurants and hotels do a phenomenal job of making our visitors feel welcomed,” Groh said.

The tournaments are also expected to create 50 jobs. The first event starts in July.
