ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Following the state of the state address, governor Pat Quinn made his first campaign stop in Rockford.
Part of Quinn’s plan for a stronger economy is building up early childhood education.
He laid out the birth to 5 initiative at Dennis School. Quinn’s priorities are pre-natal care, access to learning opportunities, and parent support. The governor says investing in early childhood will help our economy in the long run.
“We want to make it a budget priority, by so doing, we're going to lessen costs in all kinds of areas of government that we've had to pay in the past so it's important to make a good investment in these special young kids,” said Quinn.
Quinn says over the next 5 years, the state will connect families to training services to step up their children’s education.
